TheMarker‘s Annual Internet conference COM.VENTION 2010, was held this week (May 2nd) in Israel. The conference included 7 different tracks (including a mobile content track) and features over 50 speakers from Israel and abroad. Among them Mr. Om Malik, Founder, GigaOM, Mr. Scott Thompson, President of PayPal, Mr. Colleen DeCourcy, Chief Digital Officer TBWA and Mr. Arkady Volozh, Co-founder and CEO of Yandex. The conference attracted a big crowd from diverse disciplines aiming to create a networking scene and an open dialogue on Internet and High-tech news, forecasts and trends.
Mr. Michael Liagine of MultiReach was invited to the convention as Dr. Yossi Vardi’s guest. Dr. Vardi is known as Israel’s legendary startup guru and tech investor. Here are some of Mr. Liagine impressions: “leading technologies that will shape the future of the Internet were presented, while foreign guests and speakers openly spoke about their traveling to Israel in the search for new ideas which will allow them to dominate in the future. In the view of many of them, Israel is equal to the Silicon Valley, with the advantage of higher degree of flexibility and cost efficiency.”
In this context, it is important to mention that alongside with big US companies more and more Israeli startups are now considering Asian and Greater China markets as secondary or even primary markets. Moreover, more Israeli startups are seeking direct investments or partnership with internet companies in Greater China and APAC. This is due to the leading positions of local companies in those fast growing markets which already are the world biggest by the number of Internet users.
To sum up, COM.VENTION 2010 was an excellent opportunity for mingling and ideas exchange with High level of organization and great facility.
